CaixaBank makes available to its customers the first card sold in Spain made with 100% recycled material through its Visa &Pay product. The material support of this card, which interested customers can request now both in offices and through the online channel www.CaixaBank.es, comes entirely from recycled PVC from sources such as waste from the construction industry, bag recycling plastic or waste from other cards, among others. Visa & Pay 's marketing of recycled plastic is another step towards the implementation of recycled materials in the entire range of CaixaBank cards, which would mean the approximate replacement of more than 18 million plastics currently on the market.
The entity chaired by Jordi Gual and whose CEO is Gonzalo Gortázar is a pioneer in Spain in the introduction of recycled materials for financial products. Already in 2019, the entity's entire range of gift cards (about 150,000 units per year) began to be made of a biodegradable material (polylactic acid, from corn starch), to favor their recycling and waste-free disposal in order to its useful life (maximum of Whatsapp Number List two years, as gift cards). CaixaBank plans to market 10,000 units of this card during 2020. The new Visa & Pay made of recycled plastic is designed to be used as customers' regular card. A card designed to respect the environment.
From the point of view of the financial services provided by this new product, it is worth noting that the recycled plastic Visa &Pay is technically a Visa &Pay credit card, although it incorporates innovations with respect to the usual standards, such as the possibility of saving with each purchase an amount by rounding that finally, if desired, could be donated to an environmental NGO . In addition, CaixaBank is committed to offsetting its carbon footprint and therefore, in this campaign, the entity will finance the planting of a tree for each new card. Alliances and initiatives for the sustainability of the planet CaixaBank is one of the leading financial entities in mitigating the effects of climate change. The CDP organization has included CaixaBank, for the sixth consecutive year, in the index of leading companies in the fight against climate change.
